THE ADOPTION PROCESS
So You're Dreaming of a Puppy!
It always starts with a dream! If you're interested in bringing one of our amazing puppies into your home, please fill out an Adoption Application to begin the discussion!
Once we receive and review your application, we will set up a short interview with you. During the interview we will discuss upcoming litters and what you can expect when you adopt a puppy from Ma & Paw Doodles. You will then know where you are on our waiting list.
We have recently seen a large increase in interest in new puppies, and we are committed to breeding healthy puppies humanely. Please know that there is often a wait time associated. We strongly encourage you to take this time to research the breed of your puppy and prepare your family for the commitment to a new family member!
THE WAITING GAME
When you're ready to adopt your furry family member, please submit your application. After we review your application, we will require a non-refundable reservation fee of $500, payable via e-mail transfer. This reservation secures your place on our waiting list.
If you are waiting for a puppy from Ma & Paw Doodles, we will be staying in contact with you. Once your puppy has arrived, we will email you to inform you of next steps and to let you know what to expect in the weeks before your puppy comes home.
PLANNING
When your puppy is three weeks old, we'll ask you to provide more information about your lifestyle, personalities, and expectations for your puppy. This information, in addition to your original application, will help us match you with a puppy.
Final payment is due when the puppy reaches 6 weeks!
MEET & GREET
Between 5 - 6 weeks, we will have a 'Meet the Puppies' Day via Zoom appointment or in person. You will be given a date and time for you and your family to meet and to ask all your questions.
At 6 weeks final payment of $3175 (GST included) is due (bringing the total to $3675). At this time we ask for your top three puppy preferences. Please note temperament is key.
We perform temperament evaluations at 7 weeks of age, after which each puppy will be matched to a family. You will receive an e-mail introducing you to your new family member!! A contract will follow for you to sign.
PUPPY TIME!
At 8 weeks old, the wait is finally over and the puppies are ready to leave us. You will be given a pick-up date and time to come and collect your new family member!!
If your puppy needs to extend their visit due to travel or a family needing to pick up the puppy beyond pick up day(s) there will be a $30/day fee.
In the event that we cannot provide you with a puppy or if you cannot take a puppy at the time of availability, you can switch litters or wait until the timing is better for you. The deposit is non-refundable.
